BIRT Postdoctoral Fellow, Justin Hubbard, Presented Poster at AMIA 2011
Justin Hubbard, a BIRT postdoctoral fellow, presented a poster at this years AMIA Annual Symposium.
His poster, entitled “GluHMap: A Novel Visualization of Continuous Glucose-Monitoring Data Using Heatmaps”, focused on the GluHMap, a prototype visualization scheme. GluHMap utilizes a heatmap to abstract a visual summary of glucose levels to highlight trends for physicians and patients for treatment decisions. Heatmaps provide an abstraction that helps focus clinical attention on lows and highs over an extended data period. Future development of GluHMap will add diet, carbs, and insulin bolus overlays. Further work will focus on comparing provider preferences and usability of heat map visualized data with existing graphing techniques.
