My clinical work is based out of the emergency department at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, MA.  I am developing mobile-platform technologies to assist the emergency physician in improving and streamlining patient care and documenting.  Emergency medicine is a time-based specialty.  Therefore, using emerging mobile device technologies with wireless, imaging and touch-screen capabilities may improve efficiency.  The emergency physician is interrupted very frequently and presented with asynchronous information.  Documenting on-the-go both saves time and may improve documenting accuracy.  Currently I am working with the iPhone and iPad devices for use in the emergency department.  The first major project involves a unique interface for the physician to document critical EKG findings with the iPad.
