My research focuses around understanding of the contribution of “nature” and “nurture” to U.S. health disparities. Specifically, I am interested in quantifying the relationships between genes and diet, as well as their potential synergism with complex phenotypes for which there are health disparities.  To further this goal, I am applying systems based and bioinformatics methods to nutrigenomics and health disparity research and identifying ways to contribute to the translation of these fields to personalized medicine.
